Dino Island: OOC

ITS DINO TIME GUYS!!

I know we've all been quiet this last week (myself included) but I've returned and I'm ready to get chased by dinosaurs!

I've got a reply up in the main group thread and it's totally open to anyone who wants in! Mandie is currently trying to climb a tree to get to safety so feel free to join in or try to take her stuff or ask for help or whatever you have in mind!

We've decided to go a different route with the serial killer premade. From now through next Wednesday, August 3rd, those interested in applying for the serial killer position can comment to this post with a description of the character they wish to bring in. Include as much detail as you can, essentially a summary everything you would put in the application except for the inventory. Then other players may ask questions or make comments about the character, and possibly plot out lines. (Though, because this depends on a vote, we encourage players to plot with all candidates just in case.)

At the end of the week, we will put up another post with screened comments through which players may vote for which character they think should become the game's serial killer. That post will be open through the end of that current game day (day three), and we will announce the winner on changeover.

I really hate doing this because I love this place and all you amazing writers but I am going to be dropping out of the community due to some ooc issues I'm having. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but I cannot avoid it.

Alright kids. It’s that time! The dinosaurs are here! Panic! Chaos!

As you all know, Drake here is premade #23 (the badass who, shockingly, dies really early). Now he’s not going to die here as he’s done nothing of note (at all!), so bring me your lines! Damsels in distress, dudes in dire situations. What have you got so that he can come running in, invisible cape fluttering out behind him, and save the day simply so that people love him so I can laugh evilly all through killing him next time around.

If anyone needs an idea for a journal name for disposables, ~dinosore is available and amazing.

Anyone wanna plot out some things for characters to do? At some point they should explore the island and try to find signs of civilization, since they don't know about the dinos yet, and I imagine they should assume they're in a populated country until people start getting eaten. Then they should probably be looking for signs of it being Jurassic World. XD

Oh, and I've got four more characters now, so let me reintroduce them while I'm thinking about it.

Hey everyone I'm Jace and this is Marcus Powell, premade #5/one of the Air Marshals from the flight.

He prides himself on being the least likely person someone would expect to be a Marshal as he likes to goof off a bit, pretend to be completely aloof, and make a habit of flirting with other passengers.

This is probably the worst way to join a game but after tomorrow (/Sunday) I will be gone next week until the following Monday. I just could not resist snagging a character. So while I may just have a narrative up for day two, I plan on tearing into day three when I get back. I also plan on making at least a couple disposables at that time too.. one specific guy I have in mind and then I may see what premades are left for the other or take requests.

That said I welcome any and all plot ideas, lines, etc.

Today is the last day for Day One! We will have the changeover to Day Two tonight around midnight CST. You can put up placeholders if you won't have time to get up full threads or tidbits before then, or you can wait until future game days and do flashback posts. Just remember to tag your entries accordingly, and be aware of any existing, unanswered open threads before you post another starter.

This is also a reminder about the voting challenge for the serial killer premade. All interested parties, whether current or prospective players, must participate in this if they wish to apply for the serial killer premade. We're doing it this way not only because it's a popular premade, but so that players of the serial killer's future victims can have a say and a chance to plot with the potential killer beforehand, since we already have some in game. If we get no bites this week, we'll start it over again. If you have any questions regarding what we're looking for, you can comment on the aforementioned link or on the dropbox!

And, perhaps most importantly, our first major dino event is scheduled to happen at some point between Monday and Wednesday of next week. It will be a catastrophic experience, which is the perfect opportunity for some characters to get injured, or disposables to die, if anyone is feeling murderous. During this event, we encourage you to have your characters lose some of their possessions, but it's ultimately up to you what they're able to take with them or later find.

hullo all!! short player intro first: i'm evie and i like dinosaurs and today i'm bringing you the first watch this space for future disposables of my characters, my main gal elise.

elise is a bit of a firecracker. she's twenty years old, a uk resident who has lived half her life in yorkshire and the other half in london (giving her a bit of a funny accent) and is two thirds of the way through an earth sciences degree at ucl. she's a boxer, a smartass, and the very definition of gryffindor. the initial plan was to head to costa rica for a holiday with her uni friends. she was flying alone because she was coming straight from a short internship in america and planning to meet her friends at their resort. but. uh. well.

she's the sort of girl who has some leadership ability: works well under pressure, is physically very fit, can think on her feet. but she's a bit too hot-headed and young to take on such a role and will be dependent on others on the island for emotional support, so i can see her fashioning herself as more of a quirky sidekick/co-captain to any leader who might emerge in the group.

i'm up for all and any kinds of plot, so please do hit me up with any ideas. some ideas i have floating about involve finding people her own age (i've spied a few about and i imagine she'd naturally gravitate towards them), people she might clash with, and older characters that might take her under their wing and/or help her balance out some of her stronger emotions.

i'm also in the middle of writing an open starter for those nearer the back of the plane - elise is in 40f and i'm planning that she has a bit of trouble with her seatbelt, so anybody near her or within shouting distance who might want to help/freak out/be stuck in their own seat is more than welcome to tag in or plot here!

Hello everyone my name is Dee and ive been eyeing off your comm for a bit and plucking up the courage to post here. I have a possible high school graduate (originally from Maine but that can change) I am hoping to find a group that she slips into whether they are her older siblings or cousins... she is the quite type, a bright student and ballerina. Her father brought her ticket and encouraged either her siblings or cousins to take her along. Her father reckons she needs to get out and see the world more but perhaps it was a chance to seperate her from an older boyfriend :D im just seeing if she could get connections before i start writing her?

Edit: looks like she is going to be Puck and Tania younger cousin and part of Premade #2 group. She is kind of the reason why the group almost didn't make the flight, but she totally blames her dad on that part. You can find more details at dancinshoes I'm more then happy to try and edit things if needed.

Hallo dinoisland! Come meet your latest disposable. This is Noah Niebel, the boom operator for the production team that's part of pre-made #4. He originally worked in the French cinema circuit, but has since expanded internationally. Although this was not what he imagined when he set off to see the world.

Quiet, observant, and tender to a fault, Noah is often the unwanted voice of reason in tough situations and usually ends up being talked over in group debates. His compassion is going to get him killed eventually, but I haven't yet plotted out how and am certainly open to suggestions!

His fluency in English isn't often showcased as he has plenty of suspicions about the state of things and likes to listen when others think he can't understand them, but his native French and his father's German tongue can allow him to serve as a translator for a few of the other Europeans on the flight if needed. I'd love to play with that perceived language barrier as that could be quite fun!

If he isn't working to improve things on-site or exploring with his group, probably the film crew to start with but he's too much of a bleeding heart not to lend a hand when needed, then he can be found in the shade working his way through his carton of Gauloises and reading whatever books he can get his hands on while doing his best not to flinch at every rustling of leaves and roaring of distant dinos. Bring him anything you can think of and I'm sure we can make it work!

Well, now that he's in game, I thought I should introduce this Irishman c:

This is Rauri Fitzpatrick, he's 30 years old and originally from Southern Ireland. He's premade #24 which is the National Geographic amateur photographer and while he's traveled frequently, going to Costa Rica was kind of a ticket for him to boost his career but now that he can take photos of wild dinosaurs? He bound to get a career boost, right? XD anyways, he's a happy-go-lucky guy who is stupidly optimistic about everything and a bit stupidly brave. He's pretty selfless but can do stupid things sometimes when it means getting the perfect shot with one of his cameras. There's just one problem with him, he came on the flight as a heroin addict after years of struggling with it, and now he's going to be going through withdraw on the island, so he might have mood swings hahaha have fun with that :3

I have no set storylines, and he sits in 1D (his very first time in first class paid by N.G.), so I'd love whatever I can get for my Aidan Turner pb here.

Hi everyone. I'm Kate, and I thought I'd introduce Jensen Stark. His PB is Nick Robinson, and I thought I'd fish for lines while I work on him. He's a main and definitely not disposable... somehow lol

Jensen here is a part of premade #2 group with puckd, ayllesworth, quaesitor and briannad, and naively thought he was going to spend some time in the sun in Costa Rica without any issues and just relax. Jensen is one of three brothers and a single mother, them originally being from Brooklyn, New York before moving to Huntington Beach, California. Basically, his father was/is a dead beat who treated his kids like dirt, and their mother too, so she basically picked up everything and moved them all across the other side of the country after a nasty divorce when Jensen here (who is the eldest) was sixteen years old. He's a hot head, and his buttons can be easily pushed. He's also been into a bit of trouble, and continues to do so, especially while with ~puckd because they seem to dial up around one another pretty well.

Basically, he rarely does what he was told, and has never had a real father figure in his life, so he acts out, does whatever he wants but loves his mother and his siblings, even if he's an arsehole to pretty much everyone else lol of course, with the exception of his friends and the people he cares about. He questions everything, and I definitely wouldn't consider him brave, but sometimes he does pretty selfless things that he doesn't even realize he does. He can fix just about anything, and was a Scout for a number of years as well. But yeah, I'm still figuring him out and those are the basics.

As far as lines are concerned, the only real one I'd absolutely love to have is a father figure for him since he's never had one, but other then that, I'm totally game for any and all ideas that come his way :) Don't be shy! I'd love a line with any of you. He's also 21 years old, and probably pretty damn Bi-Curious, but deep in the closet with that one lol

Hey people! Hunter here again and yay, I’ve finally finished the last of the characters.

So this here is ‘Riley Colton’. That’s not his real name, but that is the name he’ll use to introduce himself and interact with people, and is also the name on his passport and ID in his wallet. I’ll also use that name for referring to him in the text. His real name is ‘Connor Goldman’ (used all through his bio) and he has his original passport and birth certificate hidden in his luggage (hint there to all you scavenger type characters; there are secrets to be uncovered!)

Riley here is the (now disowned) heir to the Goldman fortune, a family that made their money through lucrative real estate deals, fashion and then reality TV. Riley grew up in front of the cameras and went through the usual celebrity children issues (sex scandals, rehab, juvie etc) before eventually breaking free before being publicly disowned.

The kicker with Riley is that he’s smart. Real smart. Borderline genius sort of smart. So while his parents were all about signing tv deals and smiling while endorsing products, Riley was googling strange things. And reading stranger things. When he broke ties with the family, he was already running his own counterfeiting operation, specializing in passports, and a few of his aliases have ties to extremist protesters. But one of those aliases was just linked with a bombing in Texas that claimed multiple lives, and now Riley is on the run (he honestly had nothing to do with that; someone’s framed him) for that and the FBI had been cracking down on his forgery front. There was also a really annoying ‘journalist’ from TMZ hanging around his house, no doubt trying to track him down for a ‘where are they now’ story.

Anyway, I’d love lines for him! I’m totally happy to have someone possibly recognize him, though they’d have to be really big on the celebrity gossip scene to put two and two together. He has been out of the limelight for 4 years and has grown up a lot over that time. But still doable. As said, someone could find his other passport etc. Or maybe our dear Bounty Hunter is after him and leaks his name to people pretty early on. I would also love to establish a line where someone else on the plane has a fake passport, one that they got from Riley. So they’d know each other by sight, but not actually be well acquainted.

But yeah, so that’s me done. Riley here, Griff the Martial Artists/stuntman and Drake the firefighter and ERT. Can’t wait to get started.

To kind of establish my characters in the game for the official opening, I'm going to give a little detail for what might have happened to them after the plane crashed on Isla Muerta. If it's fine with the mods I was going to have dakotacooks be missing for a couple/few hours after the plane crash landed on the island. He'll find his way to the group when I get back in a few days. I was thinking that ayllesworth could have been knocked unconscious, and would remain so until I am able to wake her. Maybe Puck or Tatiana can find her and keep watch over her until she regains consciousness? Not sure yet what will happen to Langston here, aside from injuries she will have sustained.

Hi everyone :) Thought I'd introduce my Robert Kazinsky pb I'm bringing in as the flights Sky Marshal. He's a Main, so not disposable (because I love Rob too much to make him Dino food XD)

This is Aidan O'Malley, 32 years old and originally from Australia, he up and moved with his family to America when he was sixteen because his Mum married an American man, and spent the rest of his life there between visits back and forth home whenever he could. Right out of Grade 12, Andy here joined the Police Force and completed a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness, knowing exactly what he wanted to do with his life pretty much. Eventually, he became a Federal Sky Marshal and takes random flights dressed as a civilian like the flight he was on with everyone before it crash landed. He was sitting on 37D at the time and is willing to offer his skills whenever needed.

Would anyone like any lines with him? I'm still working on him, so everything is kind of all over the place right now, but he can use literally everything except for a seat buddy.

Hello all! I'm Lin and am really excited about being part of this game. I have three kiddies who have been accepted for play in this Jurassic Park themed game. First up is Langston here. She's a novelist originally from Chicago, and is on the doomed flight to Costa Rica in hopes of finding inspiration for her next novel. She currently is suffering from a major case of writers block, as well as pressure from her publisher to produce her much promised manuscript.

Next is ayllesworth. She's part of the premade group #2 who is destined to become dino food die. She's originally from Australia, having moved to San Marino, California when she was 13. It was there that she met and was befriended by Titania and Puck Devine. After finishing high school she moved back to Australia to attended college, and only recently returned to the States to accompany her friends on a reunion trip to Costa Rica for some fun times.

Kiddie number 3 is dakotacooks Dakota Beckford. He's an American restaurateur, author, and former television personality who is traveling to Costa Rica in search of new recipes, cooking styles, or twists on recipes that he hopes to compile into a book.

Since I saw her on the taken list, I figured it was about time for me to come searching for some storylines for this character. First off, I'm Liz and right now I only have this one though I keep debating on if I want one and have them be dinner, but for now we will focus on this one.

Brianna's apart of premade #2 group with puckd, whose also her ex and quaesitor. She grew up in California with her mom, spending half her summers and part of holidays in Seattle, Washington with her dad, and then went to college in New York to become a fashion designer. That tends to have people assuming she's a huge girly girl when Brianna is much more than that. She can be very friendly, but if the wrong buttons are pushed on her or if someone is starting with one of her friends, she will go off on the individual and is so not afraid to throw a punch. Her bonding time with her father was teaching her how to fight, work on cars, and hunting cause he never got a son. So she knows how to fix a car, use a gun, and track along with the whole how to get water, but the whole what plants are safe vs not bored her; however, she has no idea what sunk in and what went out the other ear. Also, going to be quite moody in the beginning because she's a coffee addict and won't be getting her daily coffee so watch out for that while she goes through her withdrawal of her caffeine.

With cheerleading and gymnastics along with sneaking out quite often, Bri has no problem climbing up or down trees, sneaking around without making a sound, and climbing into tiny places. Then add to the fact that she's a very daring/adventurous person that has no problem doing something stupid, especially if it means saving one of her friends cause she doesn't think twice about it, just does it. So an example is if the group was arguing on who should try to distract a dino for a few by throwing things to draw their attention so someone could get away, she will do it without a second thought, but she also will be careful to keep herself out of view type of thing.

You can read up on her in her journal cause she'll love any type of lines. Guys she flirts with cause she wants something, friends, people pissing her off that she might punch if pushed enough, maybe someone whose dying for her to try and help/save only for her to see them get eaten in front of her (I love torturing my characters and that would hurt her more than anything), and anything else you may want. I need to run out so you can look at her information to find out more about this chick.

CHARACTER INTRODUCTION TIME!!

Hey everyone! The name is Hattie and I'm so excited that this game is around, I cannot contain myself. I re-watched Jurassic World (don't judge, I love it) and then somehow sunk back into watching the Walking Dead again until I gave myself weird nightmares. Point is, the 17th cannot come any sooner. I give mad props to the M0ds of this game for not only coming up with the game, the pretty formats and for having premade characters, but for having an amazing advertising all over.

That being said, I hope that this game goes on FOREVER! So let's start with the plotting!

Amanda here is a mechanic with a little knowledge about your basic engineering and such. She never went to school for either so everything she learned, she got from her great-grandparents and her late father (who ran his own mechanics shop and was GOOD at it). So she knows how to fix stuff, break stuff apart and put it all back together in pretty much the same way it was before. OR she can figure it out. Another big thing about her is that her great-grandparents were huge survivalists (and full-blooded Irish immigrants). She's great at that sort of thing.

Oh, and she's kind of the dino nut. Meaning she's studied dinosaurs ever since she was eleven and right, she DID go to school for that, to become a paleontologist but unfortunately never was able to graduate because of family problems. But she's no slacker in studies so she read ahead. Whatever there is to know about the not-so-extinct dinosaurs, she's your girl.

Personality wise, she can be friendly. Just don't expect her to put her neck out for you, unless she knows she can survive as well (or if she's somehow made friends with you, or you're a kid). It's nothing personal. She just has .... trust issues?

So throw them characters and plot bunnies at me! Mains or disposables (I may lean more toward disposables because I love to break my characters, mwahaha).
